I know this isn’t going to be a popular view, but small companies can do very well by hiring a HR outsourcing solution. I’ve seen small businesses get their pants sued off because the office manager was doing the HR work and blabbed about confidential items and I’ve also seen power-crazy CEO’s make HUGE HR faux pas because they don’t know/don’t care.
HR is both an art AND a science. Let the professionals do their thing, even if it’s 10 hours a week.
